Cursor randomly reverts agent model to "auto" from explicitly selected one

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

This happened to me more than once now, I notice decreased quality in generated code, I look and “auto” mode is selected. I never use auto mode myself. My assumption is that Cursor team is forcefully enabling auto mode to reduce the costs. Pls stop it, better create higher tier or increase the cost, but for the love of god do not change my settings behind my back without my consent. Don’t be a-holes.

Steps to Reproduce

Update cursor I guess.

Expected Behavior

My selected model stays the same.

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you try recording a video so we can see exactly when it happens? This is strange behavior that shouldn’t be happening.
