Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. A full reset of settings is pretty rare and most likely points to data corruption in your Cursor profile.

To help with diagnostics, could you please share:

  • Whether Cursor tried to update around the time of the Cloudflare outage
  • Your current free disk space on drive C: (Windows Settings > System > Storage)
  • Whether the file
C:\Users\{YourUsername}\AppData\Roaming\Cursor\User\settings.json exists and has recent data

To try restoring your settings:

  1. Completely close Cursor

  2. Check if there are any backup folders at:

    C:\Users\{YourUsername}\AppData\Roaming\Cursor\Backups\

  3. If there are, you may be able to restore from there

Possible causes:

  • Low disk space during an update
  • Antivirus blocking file writes during the outage
  • Windows file system corruption

If you can provide this diagnostic information, we can decide whether this needs to be escalated to the engineering team.

Regarding the diagnostic, I am not sure if Cursor tried to update yesterday (I do not remember if I opened it before or during the outage). There’s space on my drive and the settings.json exists and seems complete.

The Backups folder is empty, and I tried reinstalling Cursor and for example GitHub is still asking for the PAT token while before the outage I had no issue with Github and was working flawlessly without PAT.
