.edu Email Not Available in Bangladesh – Can I Use My University-Issued Email Instead?

Hi Cursor Team,

I’m from Bangladesh, and at our universities, we typically do not receive .edu domain emails. Instead, my university has provided me with an institutional email address in the format: [email protected].

I understand that many academic services and student verifications often rely on .edu emails, but in our region, .ac.bd is the official domain for accredited academic institutions.

I wanted to check if it’s possible to use my university-provided @uttara.ac.bd email for verification or student-related benefits on Cursor. It is a legitimate academic email, and I can provide any necessary proof if needed.

Looking forward to your guidance on this!

Best regards,

same problem, I like how GitHub handle the students verification I think Cursor should do the same

Plus, there are many schools that don’t even provide student email addresses, so that’s a limitation IMHO

Yep same here in Morocco, our school have a .ma edu mail not .edu and I can’t really verify status with this

I’ve the same issue as I am a student in Canada. In Canada our universities usually don’t use .edu.

I have three different emails from my three universities, but they do not have “.edu” :frowning:

Same here

Hi, thanks for your interest in our Student Discount.

We have seen a lot of questions come from this offer, so we have collated many of the answers to those questions here:

For any further questions, please comment them within that post.

Note: Please do not request specific countries or schools to be added - we are working on rolling this out to more students soon, but requesting your school will not make any difference to its eligibility
