Frequent freezing and unexpected shutdowns when interacting with the agent in Cursor AI chat.

Describe the Bug

When I ask the agent in the Cursor AI chat to perform a task (e.g., generate code, analyze a file, or process instructions), the application frequently freezes for a prolonged period (several seconds to minutes). During this time, the UI becomes unresponsive. After a while, it may return to normal, but if I try to type or interact again, it sometimes forcefully closes on its own without warning.
This behavior is unpredictable and occurs regardless of the task complexity. It disrupts the workflow and makes it hard to use Cursor reliably.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Cursor and launch the AI Chat.

Ask the agent to perform a coding or analysis task (e.g., “Summarize this code”, “Fix this bug”, or “Write a script that does XYZ”).

Observe that the interface freezes.

Wait several seconds or try to type in the chat again.

In some cases, the application may close unexpectedly without any crash message.

Expected Behavior

The agent should respond within a reasonable time (a few seconds), and the UI should remain responsive. The app should not freeze or crash when typing or awaiting a response.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Latest version (issue has also occurred on all previous versions I’ve used).

Additional Information

Issue occurs on a Windows machine.

No background processes or CPU overload were observed during the freeze.

The issue happens even on fresh launch without many files open.

I’ve tried reinstalling Cursor, but the problem persists.

It happens on both small and large projects.
