Frustration with Forced Premium Upgrade Despite Using Free Tier on Cursor

Describe the Bug

I’ve been reaching out to support for a long time regarding an issue with my Cursor account. I use two accounts, one for work and one personal. I didn’t code for a month on my personal free account, and when I logged back in, it forced me to upgrade to Pro. I’ve tried multiple accounts to access the premium features, but honestly, I don’t need Pro; the free tier is more than enough for my small tasks.

However, my machine won’t let me use the free tier at all, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. If Cursor advertises a free option, why force users into premium? This feels like a mistake on your end. Please respond to my emails and resolve this issue, it’s very frustrating. Also, the premium cost is too expensive for me right now, nearly 10,000 on average, so upgrading isn’t feasible.

Steps to Reproduce

Create or use an existing free Cursor account (personal account).

Stop coding or using the account for about one month.

After the inactivity period, log back into the free account.

Notice that the system forces you to upgrade to the Pro plan instead of allowing access to the free tier.

Attempt to use the free features, but the system blocks access or insists on premium.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the application, issue persists.

Attempt to create/use multiple accounts to access premium features, but no resolution.

Observe that the machine or app does not allow free tier usage despite it being advertised.

Expected Behavior

Allowing me to use my free tier without forcing me to upgrade and also not allowing my machine to use free accounts!

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Cursor 1.4.2, the latest one somehow.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue
