Grok Bot onboarding provisioning fails after 3 attempts

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

I cannot complete the initial Grok Bot setup.

Every time I try to set up Grok Bot, the provisioning process fails with the following error:

Retry exhausted for onboarding-bot-provision after 3 attempts

I have retried the setup multiple times and restarted the application, but the same error continues.

It appears that the Agent Computer / hosted machine provisioning for my account may be stuck or failing.

Could someone from the Cursor team please check the backend provisioning status for my account and reset/reprovision the Agent Computer if necessary?

I have also contacted Cursor support by email.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Grok Bot.
Start the initial onboarding/setup.
Wait for the Agent Computer to be provisioned.
Setup fails after 3 attempts.
Error appears: Retry exhausted for onboarding-bot-provision after 3 attempts.

Expected Behavior

Grok Bot should complete onboarding and successfully provision the Agent Computer.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the detailed report. You were right, it’s not your Mac or PC and it’s not your settings. The cloud computer linked to your account is stuck in a state that retrying and reinstalling the app can’t fix, so every attempt to create your first Bot fails the same way.

I’m recreating the cloud computer on my side. After that, fully quit Grok Bot (Grok Bot menu > Quit on Mac, or right-click the tray icon > Quit on Windows), reopen it, and run setup again. It should go through.

If you want to unblock yourself right now, there’s a working workaround. Log in to Grok Bot on your phone. The mobile app creates the first Bot directly, and after that the desktop app opens normally. Then on desktop go to Settings > Updates > Update Grok Bot’s Computer to bring the cloud computer up to date.

Let me know how it goes and I’ll keep an eye on your case.

I applied everything you said, and I tried it on my phone as well, but it still didn’t work. When I open the Grok bot, I get the same error on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.

Hi @Musvik_ASADZADE

We’ve fiddled with some things in the backend, could you restart Grok Bot and let us know if it’s working now?
