How to properly use Slow Mode after exhausting fast requests?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently reached my limit for “fast” requests on my current plan. Since I’m not looking to upgrade or pay for additional credits at the moment, I’d like to switch to Slow Mode (or use the complimentary requests provided).

Could someone guide me on how to ensure I’m using the slow queue correctly? Do I need to toggle a specific setting in the editor, or does it happen automatically? Also, are there any tips to optimize usage while on the slower tier?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I’d also like to know!

I’m receiving the message “We have detected that you are using the slow pool excessively. Please reach out to [email protected] for assistance.” for all Cursor models.

I’m still on the plan based on 500 requests. This error started 3 days ago, and nothing has been resolved! When I contacted support, they told me it was an infrastructure problem on Cursor’s end…

@Alexis_Valera_Valbue it depends on which plan you’re on:

If you’re on the new credits model (Pro for $20/month): there’s no “slow mode” anymore. Once you use up the included credits ($20), you have two options: enable on-demand usage (pay-as-you-go at the same rates) or upgrade to a higher plan. It won’t automatically switch you to a “slower” version.

If you’re on a legacy plan with 500 fast requests: the slow pool kicks in automatically after you run out of fast requests. You don’t need to change any settings.

@unisuam there was a slow pool incident on Feb 10 that affected many users. It was fixed, but if you’re still seeing the error, it likely needs account-specific checking. Since you already emailed [email protected] and got a reply, try writing again and mention the issue still isn’t resolved. The team can check the status of your account.

My accounts been blocked for 2 days from the slow pool.

I’ve emailed support 20 times about being blocked from the slow pool.
Email support has responded once and gaslights me with an “explanation of how my 500 fast requests work”.

When I ask them “Are you under the impression that Im asking you about my 500 fast requests by sending you 20 emails about being blocked?”

They stop responding. What is this? Seriously, what is this?

Has yours been resolved yet?

Why is there even a block on an UNLIMITED subscription?

Here’s the email I just recieved about my UNLIMITED free slow requests:

”Thanks for getting back to us, and I’m very sorry for the frustration this situation has caused. I understand how confusing and disappointing this experience can be.

If you’re still encountering this issue and would like to continue using Cursor immediately, we recommend enabling On-Demand Usage, which is billed separately from your subscription based on actual usage. Alternatively, you may wait until your next billing cycle, when your included usage or requests reset.

Unfortunately, while I’d really like to help further, we’re unable to take additional action on this matter. The system automatically detects and enforces limits when excessive slow-pool usage occurs, and these restrictions can’t be overridden manually.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Best,

Mae”

Isn’t there anyone at cursor that can provide some actual assistance on this block they’ve imposed on users with UNLIMITED slow access?

I’ll add context:

  1. I have a subscription with UNLIMITED slow pool requests.

  2. I don’t use cursor excessively - sometimes weeks / months go by without touching agentic coding.

  3. Cursor pushed an update which made my agent jump to use Claude Opus which spiked the usage AND I have been blocked since.

  4. Complete block.

  5. It’s obviously deliberate as you can tell by the gaslighting email support;

“IF you’re still encountering this issue…”

”…And these restrictions can’t be overridden manually.”

Why would I NOT “still encounter the issue” - If you havent fixed it?

Seriously, isnt there anyone at Cursor that can honor the subscriptions they used to onboard us with?

@deanrie
I’m not aware of the Feb 10 incident.

I’m blocked since 2 days ago. Nothings been fixed - instead I’ve received a reply that they have ZERO intention of fixing the block on my UNLIMITED slow pool requests.

What’s going on?

Cursor Team - How about spending 1/10 of the amount of time you spend on de-listing my posts, to actually fix the issue?

Hey everyone,

This is ultimately an individual account billing/subscription issue that needs to be discussed via [email protected]. The tone of this topic is also veering into unproductive.
