Mac: same account as iOS shows onboarding, then “Setting up Grok Bot’s computer” → white screen

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Grok Bot on Mac does not load my existing agents. iPhone works on the same account.
After signing into Grok Bot on Mac, the first load shows the new-user onboarding flow and none of my agents appear. I confirmed on that first load that it is the same/correct account as iPhone: same email and same token usage % (48%).
If I kill the app (CMD-Q) and reload, I get “Setting up Grok Bot’s computer,” then it lands on a white screen.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Grok Bot on iPhone with an existing account that already has agents. Confirm it works.
  2. Sign into Grok Bot on Mac with the same account.
  3. On first load, check that the email and token usage match iPhone: confirm it’s the same account.
  4. Observe onboarding with no existing agents.
  5. Quit Grok Bot on Mac (CMD-Q) and reopen.
  6. Observe “setting up Grok Bot’s computer”, then a white screen.

Expected Behavior

Mac should skip onboarding and show the same agents, conversations, and shared computer already working on iPhone for that account. After quit/reopen it should load the existing session, not a white screen.

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the detailed report.

First, the main thing: your bots and chats are safe, nothing was lost. On our side, your Grok Bot computer looks fine, which is why it works normally on iPhone. But your Mac can’t reach it over the network. That’s why you’re seeing the initial setup screen and the white or loading screen after a restart.

This is usually caused by something on the Mac blocking the network path, like a firewall, VPN, DNS filtering, or security software that blocks access to cursorvm.com. Here’s what to try:

  1. Open Grok Bot on your Mac while connected to your phone’s hotspot. If it loads there, it’s a network issue.
  2. Allow cursorvm.com and all its subdomains in your firewall and any security tools.
  3. As a test, switch your DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 and restart the app.

Also, on Mac, skip the onboarding step create your first bot. Your existing bots will show up automatically once the connection is working.

Let me know how the hotspot test goes, that will tell us where to look next.

Hi @kevininbkkth!

It looks like things are working now. I’m going to close out this thread, but don’t hesitate to raise a new one if you run into another issue.
