Grok Bot desktop 0.24.0 on Mac (Apple silicon), installed from the official .dmg into Applications.
Symptom: app launches, briefly shows “setting up Grok’s computer,” then the window goes fully black. No buttons, no sign-in, no Settings. Same failure in the web client. I am trying the iPhone app next.
Already tried: redownload, copy to Applications, Gatekeeper Open, Force Quit leftovers, relaunch with --disable-gpu, kill local-exec-daemon and reopen. No change.
Activity Monitor shows one healthy Grok Bot process (not hung). It has live HTTPS connections to Cursor/AWS. Open files include GPU caches and ~/.grokbot/local-exec-daemon.log.
That log is a restart loop: helper starts, then SIGTERM or “desktop ownership lost, shutting down,” then starts again. Latest line is another start with no stable session.
This matches the stuck/unreachable Agent Computer issue from Aug 20–21. I cannot use Settings → Updates → Reset Grok Bot’s Computer because the UI never paints.
Please reset or recreate the Agent Computer on this account. Happy to send a request ID if you tell me where to find one on a black window.
Steps to Reproduce
Not sure. I have just tried to click into the app on the phone and desktop.
I am also not able to get it to work on Windows (v24) - I see 7 processes active in task manager but the grok bot window is just a black window --------- has anyone who uses cursor Teams got grok bot working yet?
Hey folks, thanks for the reports and sorry for the hassle.
This wasn’t anything wrong with your install, your Mac/Windows machine, or your plan. The computer that runs your Grok Bot on our side had gotten into a stuck state, which is why the app (and the web client) couldn’t get past the setup screen. And Ravi, Grok Bot is included on Cursor Teams seats, so being on Teams wasn’t the blocker.
@Matthew_Brown1, @Ravi_V, @Josh2 - we’ve rebuilt each of your computers from our side. Please fully quit Grok Bot (Cmd+Q on Mac, or fully close it on Windows) and relaunch, and it should come back up within a few minutes. If it’s still black after that, reply here and I’ll take another look.
hi Mohit – Thanks for the response - no luck (I restarted everything multiple times --When i open Grok Bot, it just shows a blank window for sometime and then gets closed) - *.cursorvm.com connectivity is confirmed.
Grok Bot 0.24.0 (Windows 11). The app shows “Creating Grok Bot’s computer,” then the window goes fully white/blank. No Settings UI, so I can’t Reset/Update Agent Computer myself.
Local network looks fine — I can reach *.cursorvm.com / AWS endpoints. Reinstalling, clearing cache, and restarting didn’t help.
Could you please rebuild / reset my Agent Computer on the backend? Thanks!
facing the same issue since a day or so. tried on my ipad as well, but it kept persisting that its unable to recover computer. on my mac, its just stuck on a black screen
Mac, Apple silicon. App flashes “Setting up Grok Bot’s computer” for about 2 seconds, then stays on a white screen. It does not quit. No Settings, nothing to click.
Fully quit with Cmd+Q and relaunched several times. Same result.
No crash reports in Console. This does not match the Windows case where the app closes after a white flash.
Please reset / rebuild the Grok Bot computer on your side.
Happy to send ~/Library/Application Support/Grok Bot logs if you want them. user login is [email protected]
@mohitjain Still not able to load the ROK Bot as of 25th morning. is shows but then following by blank screen. connectivity to *.*.cursorvm.com confirmed from my laptop
Same issue, upgraded my plan, reinstalled the app, got a few different error states, updated my MacOS, deleted all residual installs and now it’s saying I don’t have access on this account which was never the case. Check access takes me to my Pro+ account.
