Using 40.4 shows no code interpreter - I think it was beta option before, now can’t see that. And no option to change in the Chat panel.
Sorry if I missed the update, but why is it removed and will it be brought back?

Hi @soorfett
Yes, you’re right. It’s gone now. I think Composer is used instead.
@deanrie Composer, alas, has quite different functionality from interpreter.
I subbed for paid model partly due to presence of code interpreter.
The removal hasn’t been mentioned in the Changelogs from can I see. I recall in an old post the Cursor forum that the Cursor team don’t use it, but it would be a shame to remove it on the basis it isn’t useful for the kind of coding tasks they have.
I found an old post saying the Cursor team don’t use it.
It is very useful for some people - particularly in interactive programming contexts such as data analysis, where it shines. OpenAI even changed the name of Code Interpreter to “Advanced Data Analysis” to reflect this.
What often happens with me is I write some code in the editor, run those lines, and then will copy and paste outputs from Terminal to Chat window, then copy and paste to the editor, and repeat…Which isn’t a great workflow.
Sometimes e.g. when debugging, the Chat will ask me to run some code, then provide it with the outputs to help figure out what is wrong - and I often think - you should do that yourself!
Yes, I agree, and I support you. It has been useful for many users.
I so totally agree. I paid exclusively for this feature, and its just removed without a word?
