Recurring VPN Connectivity Issue After v0.48.6 Update — Still No Fix (Windows 10 x64)

Description:
I’m facing the same issue described in this Reddit post:
Recurring Issue: Chat Broken on Corporate VPN (Again!) After Update 0.48.6

After updating from v0.47.8 (which worked without issues), Cursor chat is now completely non-functional when connected to my corporate VPN. I consistently receive the following error:

Current Environment:

  • Cursor Version: 0.48.6
  • VSCode Version: 1.96.2
  • OS: Windows 10 x64
  • Corporate VPN: Standard setup used by many enterprises
  • Error Frequency: Always reproducible while VPN is active
  • Last Known Working Version: 0.47.8

Impact:

This issue completely blocks access to core Cursor functionality — the AI assistant — during working hours when VPN is mandatory. As a paying customer relying on Cursor for professional tasks, this regression is extremely disruptive. It results in:

  • Loss of productivity
  • Inability to use key features in a secure environment
  • Avoidance of updates to prevent breakage
  • Erosion of trust in the tool’s stability for business use

Despite prior reports, this issue has reappeared without resolution, and repeated breakage with no permanent fix feels like gaslighting to users.

Request for Action:

  1. Acknowledge this as a critical regression impacting corporate users
  2. Provide a status update or ETA for a permanent fix
  3. Share a workaround or temporary solution
  4. Implement protections to prevent recurrence in future versions

This is a serious blocker for professional usage. Cursor is positioned and priced as a business tool — and we expect consistent functionality across standard corporate network setups, including VPNs.
