SheerID re-verification bug? Government IDs flagged as “unsupported” after initial approval

Hi —I’m a university student from China and a long-time paid Cursor user. On the first day of the student offer I uploaded my documents, passed SheerID, and received the education discount. A few days later, Cursor narrowed the countries eligible for the student program. That was confusing, but my discount kept working—until recently.

Recently, I and several classmates were asked to re-verify our student status. We’re all legitimate students, so we followed the flow again. After submitting valid university proof, SheerID then requested a government-issued ID. We uploaded Chinese government IDs, but the system replied that these were “unsupported,” and the verification window closed. I reached out to SheerID support but haven’t received any response. From what I can see, many other students are running into the exact same issue.

With the re-verification deadline approaching, we’re worried we’ll lose the student plan even though we’re providing correct, official documents. Could you let us know if this is a SheerID bug or a policy change? It would really help if you could work with SheerID to accept Chinese IDs (or clearly list which alternatives are supported for China). In the meantime, an extension of the re-verification deadline or a manual review option would be greatly appreciated.
