I was using Cursor with no problems thn 30 minutes ago it started repeating “The model default does not work with your current plan or api key” for any request. I removed it, downloaded a new .dmg (I use Mac) but still unable to use it.

Can you help me, please?

Steps to Reproduce

Just started a fresh Cursor downloaded from your site. I then opened a project and asked something to Cursor but always got that error message.

I expect to keep working with Cursor

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

I’m getting the same error. I’m on Windows & have the Pro Plan. For the model, I’m trying to use it on Auto

I deleted it again and installed a previous version I had. Now Cursor answer:

”The GPT-5 promotional period has ended. All GPT-5 requests will now consume included usage or be billed at API prices. No other action is required; please resubmit to continue using GPT-5 or switch to the model of your choice.”

But I don’t even have it in models. The only active is claude-3.5-sonnet

Hey, you’re trying to use a model named “default” that doesn’t exist in Cursor, which is why you’re getting this error.
