Treat Cursor Composer in Editor Mode like an editor

  1. Open Composer as editor. It opens on split view in the second split on the right.

  2. Drag it to the first split, and view it full width. You can do that because it’s an editor like any other in VS Code.

  3. Switch to another editor, like an open text file.

  4. Press Ctrl + I to move focus back to the composer. Notice how it removed the Composer Editor from where you put it in the first (and only) split, back into the second split view on the right? I don’t want that to happen.

  5. Put it back into split one and pin the editor at the start. Yay. Press Ctrl + I. Notice the pin is removed, and it’s forced back into the right split again. Booo!!!

When I first open as an editor, start in split view on the right…fine. But if I move it and start to do editor things like position it in random splits, please let it be. Let me treat it like a normal editor and put it in all other places I can put editors in VS Code. If you insist on moving it, at the very least don’t do it if I pinned it.

That should be the whole point of having a distinct Editor Mode different from Pane Mode. Otherwise, the editor would be basically the same as the side pane.

Hey, our support for the Composer being able to be popped out as an editor is somewhat new, and older commands and keyboard shortcuts may not have been made with this functionality in mind, as you have found.

I’ll log this down to get this ironed out in the future, appreciate the report!
