Problem statement
I’m currently using the $40/month limit, and I ran into an issue with how usage gets consumed over time.
In practice, it is easy to use Cursor heavily during the first days of the month, even when that was not the intended budgeting behavior.
As a result, the budget can be used up too quickly, leaving me without access to advanced models for the rest of the month.
Why this matters
I want to use Cursor consistently throughout my regular working days, rather than consume too much of the budget in a short period and then have to wait until the next month.
A user-defined daily limit would help by providing:
- better control over usage distribution
- protection against burning through the budget too quickly
- more predictable usage during working days
- less need for manual self-monitoring
Requested solution
As a user, I would like the ability to set an optional daily spending/token limit alongside the monthly limit.
Example
- Monthly limit: $40
- Optional daily limit: $2
- Once the daily limit is reached, usage pauses until the next day or asks for confirmation before continuing
Expected outcome
This would make Cursor much easier to manage for users who want steady usage across the month rather than accidental spikes.
