Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. From your screenshot, it looks like you’re in Agent mode. Command Center doesn’t work in this mode.

Switch to Editor mode: Cmd+E

After that, make sure Command Center is enabled:

  • Cmd+,
  • Search for “Command Center”
  • Turn it on if it’s off

It should go back to normal. Let me know if it doesn’t help.

Thank you so much, this helps. Now, could you please explain what the agent layout is and what the difference is between the agent layout and the editor layout?

PS: It also solved another issue I had reported. It looks like I had accidentally pressed Cmd+E….

PPS: From a UX perspective, this is a nightmare – two layouts that look identical but have different behaviour…

Agent Layout and Editor Layout are two different UI modes that control how panels are arranged in the interface:

Agent Layout

  • Optimized for working with the AI agent
  • The Agent panel is centered
  • Command Center is disabled in this mode
  • The navigation buttons (back/forward) move to the left

Editor Layout

  • The classic (old) layout for editing code
  • The editor is in the center, and the Agent panel is in the sidebar
  • Command Center is available in the title bar
  • Standard placement of all UI elements

Switch between them: Cmd+E

About the UX feedback, I totally agree it’s not convenient. Visually, the modes do look very similar, but functionally they’re different.

I’ll pass this feedback to the team. It’s a valid point that the two modes should look more clearly different.

Actually, that’s not exactly my point. In UI, they are called not modes but layouts, and this term refers to the positioning of elements, not their behavior. The same toolbars should look and behave similarly in both layouts. The Command Center should work in both layouts. It’s (maybe) okay that in the agent layout it’s hidden by default, but if a user wants to turn it on, they should be able to do so.

On the other hand, if the agent mode is a different mode (not just a layout) with different functionality (I have no idea what that could be), then yes, it should have a clear visual distinction, and there should be different toolbars, etc.

But as far as I can see, it’s just (as the name suggests) a different layout without any special functionality.
