There’s no Agent/Editor toggle anymore in the menubar. After launch, I started in Agent mode and had no way to go to Editor. I had to search this forum to find you can hit Cmd+E to get back to Editor mode.
Hey, thanks for the report! This isn’t a bug - the Agent/Editor tabs in the top bar were removed in the updates. They’ve been replaced with custom layouts.
Cmd+E works, but here’s a more convenient way:
Set up layouts:
Click the gear icon in the top right corner
Create presets with the panels you need
Save them for quick switching
Switch between layouts:
CMD+OPT+TAB (Mac)
If it doesn’t work, go to Keyboard Shortcuts, find “View: Switch Layout,” and assign your shortcut
Thank you, but I think there is still a bug because there is no way to switch the layout other than somehow knowing to do Cmd+E or Cmd+Opt+Tab. In Editor mode, there is a “…” menu and a way to switch layouts
Also, there is no way to customize or save layouts from the settings menu. This functionality does not appear in the General tab or any of the other tabs in Settings.
Yes, you’re right, this is a real problem. In Agent mode there’s no obvious way to switch the layout like you can in Editor mode. It’s a UX issue that other users have already reported too.
For now, here’s what works without hunting for icons:
Cmd+E to switch to the Editor layout, this is the fastest way
About Settings > General, yep, there’s no layout option there. You need to use the gear icon, but only when you’re in Editor mode.
The team knows about this issue. The gear icon behaves differently across modes and that makes things confusing. They’re working on improving the UI for layout switching.
