Grok Bot on MacBook Pro has been unusable since August 27. The app says “Grok Bot isn’t available on this account yet.” Check Access only opens “Download Grok Bot for macOS.” The app is already installed and worked on August 26.
The Cursor dashboard shows Free (with SuperGrok Plus) on the same account I used to sign in here. Spending shows Grok Bot / SuperGrok Plus with usage from last week. Privacy is Share Data Active.
I emailed Cursor support August 27. The only reply was the AI assistant. I followed up August 31 and September 1. No human response in six days.
Steps to Reproduce
Grok Bot was working on Mac on August 26 (SuperGrok Plus linked).
Reset Cursor password on iPhone August 27.
Open Grok Bot app on Mac.
App shows “isn’t available on this account yet.”
Check Access goes to the download page even though Grok Bot is already in Applications.
Web dashboard still shows SuperGrok Plus and a Grok Bot usage bar.
Expected Behavior
The Mac app should open Grok Bot for this SuperGrok Plus account, same as August 26. It should not ask to download again or say the account is ineligible.
Grok Bot: Version 0.24.0
Release Track: stable
OS: darwin (MacBook Pro, macOS Tahoe 26.6.2)
Cannot open Grok Bot → About Grok Bot because the app is stuck on the access screen.
For AI issues: which model did you use?
N/A. Not a model issue. The Mac app never opens.
For AI issues: add Request ID with privacy disabled
None. The app is blocked on the access screen.
Additional Information
Cursor account is same as I signed in here.
Dashboard: Free (with SuperGrok Plus). Spending: Grok Bot SuperGrok Plus. This is the desktop Grok Bot app, not iOS Grok and not Cursor IDE. Please reset desktop entitlement on this existing account. Do not ask me to create a new account.
Hey, good news first: your account and SuperGrok Plus access are fine, and your computer and Bots are still there. This isn’t an entitlement issue.
What happened: resetting your password on August 27 ended all active sessions as a security measure, but the Grok Bot app on your Mac is still using the old session. Every request it sends gets rejected, and the app shows that as an access problem instead of asking you to sign in again. That’s why Check Access sends you to the download page. The web already sees you have access.
How to fix it:
Open Grok Bot on your Mac so you can see the “isn’t available on this account yet” screen.
At the very bottom of that screen, find “Signed in as your email” and click Log out next to it.
Fully quit Grok Bot Grok Bot menu > Quit, or Cmd+Q.
Open Grok Bot again and click Sign in. Your browser will open, sign in to the same account using your new password.
Go back to the Grok Bot app. It should reconnect to your existing computer and Bots.
If you don’t see Log out on that screen, or if the message is still there after step 5, tell me which step you got stuck on and we’ll go from there.
This is a known issue we’re tracking. The app is incorrectly showing an expired session as an access denial. It shouldn’t work like that, and it’s not something you misconfigured.
Thank you for getting back to me. Your solution worked. Just a question, why did I receive an email about two hours after yours from an AI agent stating that this was a billing issue and that it was removing my thread from the forum?
On the second point, sorry for the confusion. The email about a billing issue and moving the thread was sent by an automatic sorting step that misclassified the topic. It treated it as a subscription request, but the real issue was technical, an outdated session after a password change, and it wasn’t related to billing at all. That was our mistake, not anything wrong with your request.
I’ve moved the thread back to the right category and made it visible again. You don’t need to do anything else. If you run into access issues in Grok Bot again, just message me here.
