Student Verification Issues

I am Sankarshan Deshpande, I was trying to sign up for the student discount and provided the following documents for verification:

  1. Fee Receipt
  2. Unofficial Transcript
  3. Class schedule for this semester

I also submitted my local driver’s license for id verification.

However despite having submitted all of the required documents I still got an error saying documents were insufficient. I have tried this multiple times on different days and still face the same issue.
Please help me getting in resolved.

Hello Team. I am having an issue receiving the discount after verifying my student status i followed the steps advised to sign up with .edu email and to pay for the Pro but i didn’t get the automatic refund. Please advise

I am a student at Het Stedelijk Lyceum (NL). I am stuck in a “Dashboard Redirect Loop.”

  1. My school email ([ADMIN - Condor: redacted for privacy]) is blocked by Google Admin Policy (Error 400), so I cannot log in with it.

  2. Because of this failed attempt, every time I click “Apply” on the student page, it redirects me straight back to my dashboard. I never see the SheerID form.

Could you please reset my verification session or send me a manual SheerID upload link so I can verify with my student ID card?

I am a student at ALU. My email domain is accepted by SheeID on google student programs or Spotify discounts. Can you please consider enlarging your support for student plan eligibility to all for other students to access the amazing features of Cursor.

@condor Hi, I am writing to report a technical issue with the student verification process that has left my account stuck in a “support loop.”

Whenever I try to apply for or resubmit my student verification via the pricing page, I immediately encounter this error:

“Verification Limit Exceeded. We’re glad you’re enthusiastic, but it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.”

The Conflict

  • Cursor Support told me via email to resubmit the verification through the website.

  • The Reality: I cannot resubmit because the website blocks me with the error above before the SheerID form even loads.

  • SheerID Support previously informed me that this specific limit is a flag on Cursor’s end, and they have no power to reset it.

Could a team member or engineer please reset the verification attempt flag for my account? This would allow me to finally access the SheerID portal as instructed by your support team. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Team! I have tried multiple times over the past couple of months to verify my student status via SheerID. I get to the point where I submit my government ID and every time I submit and click the email, it fails. Its been 3 months and I’d really like to use this tool at its full potential, but this has been a huge struggle.

Submitted my government ID to finish verifying my student status, but the page lead with the status “We had trouble validating your ID. Please contact SheerID support.”

Contacted support and tried again and still facing the same issues?

The SheerID system kept on saying that my documents are insufficient to verify my student status despite me uploading multiple different documents that all meet the criteria (full name, school name (in US), date within 90 days of the current school year, etc).
I’ve emailed the customer support as well, and they gave me the same response as everyone else here (sorry, but we can’t do anything, try again, bye).

This is extremely frustrating, and I can’t believe a tech tool so established in this current world is so behind on these administrative tasks.

Hi Cursor Team,

I am a Master’s student at Northeastern University (Boston). I’m stuck in a loop where SheerID and Cursor Support are pointing fingers at each other, and I need an engineer’s help to break the cycle.

The Issue: I receive the verification email at my .edu address, but clicking the link leads to a 404 page (“URL may be incorrect or no longer available”).

The Root Cause (My Hypothesis): I suspect my account was flagged by SheerID’s fraud detection because I attempted the first verification during the summer while I was doing an intern outside the US. Now that I am back in Boston and on campus, the system seems to have “soft-blocked” my email/account, providing only dead links.

Evidence of Eligibility:

I have already been verified by SheerID for ChatGPT Student and Gemini.

I am currently in Boston and can provide my NEU ID, transcript, or tuition receipt immediately.

Since the automated SheerID flow is clearly failing due to this prior location flag, could you please manually whitelist my account or override the verification status?

Hi SheerID teams,
When I tried to follow the steps of student verification of the Cursor, I successfully entered my info and received the email to my .edu email account, but when I tried to open the link in the email, it opened a page that said there was an error and let me try again,“Error, We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. The URL may be incorrect or the page you’re looking for is no longer available.” I am sure the info I entered is correct and I am eligible for the student discount because I already verified by SheerID in the ChatGPT student discount, and I am able to provide more documentation if needed. Would you mind taking a look at my case? I didn’t receive any useful response when I tried to contact you guys last time.

Their reply:

We are unable to process your verification request. For further assistance with the Cursor Pro student discount, please visit the Cursor FAQ https://www.cursor.com/students.
As we are unable to assist with your verification request, this ticket will be permanently closed.

I am facing the same issue as others here. My cursor account uses my school email and I tried to verify multiple times leading to the limits being exhausted. Is there a known fix for this that I can try on my end? If not, I would love to have Cursor Pro as it is my preferred IDE (and would 100% convince my future team to adopt it as well).

I am a 2nd year Master Student at Stanford university. But upon uploading documents to verify my student identity, SheerID always replies ”We need more information to approve your Student status”.

Although my documents satisfy the criteria required for valid documents.

I’ve been having the same issues as everyone else, I have tried everything, reached out to both customer supports, tried several times over the course of months and months, tried all types of verification and I still have not been granted my student status. What must I do to verify? Please help.

I have attempted verification twice over the past two months. Each time, I get the following error: “We had trouble validating your government-issued ID. Please try again: https://support.sheerid.com/en-US/help-center/image-tips

I have contacted sheerID support, and they have told me to try again. They refuse to give me any more information about the issue. I have now hit my verification limit.

I have been verified for Tableau this year with sheerid with no problems. This is only occurring for Cursor. @condor Is there any way to request manual review with SheerID?
