Student Verification Issues

Hello,

I had this problem a few months ago, where I hit the verification limit due to my drivers licence not being accepted by Sheer. I would still love to get the Cursor student discount. Last time I tried to resolve this with Sheer, I went on a 10+ email thread where they sent me a bunch of reverification links but none seemed to work. I tried to email them again a month later but they did not help me. Is there any way that the team could look at my case or let me try the verification again?

Hi @condor — I’m a student at the UPenn and I’m stuck in the student verification flow.

Situation

  • I received the Cursor email that says “You’re almost there!” with a “Finish Verifying” button, and it says the link expires Feb 07, 2026.

  • When I click through, I end up blocked with one of these:

    • “Error — This verification is expired. Please submit a new verification.”

    • When I try to start a new verification: “Verification Limit Exceeded — … already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.”

It seems like my verification got into a bad state (expired flow + attempt limit lock). Could someone from the Cursor team DM me to help clear/reset the student verification attempt so I can complete it?

I’m having the same issue and it’s extremely frustrating.

I’m a current university student and I completed all required steps:

  • Verified my .edu email

  • Uploaded a valid U.S. government-issued ID

  • Received an official email from SheerID saying “We have successfully confirmed your identity and you may continue verifying.”

However, when I click “Continue verification”, Cursor still shows this error:

“We are unable to verify you at this time.”

So according to SheerID, my identity is confirmed — but Cursor blocks me anyway and I cannot finish student verification.

I’ve already done everything correctly on my side. This looks like a broken handoff between SheerID and Cursor, or a stuck verification session.

Could someone from the Cursor team please:

  • Reset / clear my verification session, or

  • Manually review and complete my student verification?

This seems to be affecting many students here, and SheerID support alone is not resolving it.

@condor Hi, I encounter the issue (verification exceed limits). I am using the Edu email and currently I’m in US. I try a lot of times, but always same issue. I will really appreciate if you can help!

I am currently enrolled in an online U.S. university and have an official .edu student email account. I am trying to complete the student verification process, but I keep receiving a “Limit Exceeded” error.

First, I tried verifying with my actual university email. After submitting my passport information, I received the “Limit Exceeded” message.Then, I selected a different (less well known) college while still using my actual university email, and I received the same error.However, when I selected an Ivy League university, the system allowed me to proceed to the ID scanning page, even with the same email address that previously received the error. In the end, the verification still failed.It seems like the system may only support certain universities. Some schools work fine, and a few of my classmates were able to verify successfully, but most students are getting this error.

Please clarify why this is happening and how I can complete verification with my legitimate student email.

I am a student in the US trying to verify my student status. I have created my Cursor account using my school email (ends in .edu) and I gave Sheer ID pictures of my drivers license, but it fails every time, I have tried 3 different times to verify. Since I did get married and change my last name I am worried that might be part of the issue.

Hello all!
Has anyone figured this out. I tried to verify and I got through to the point where I got the email saying that I was verified from sheer and I just need to click the link. However when I clicked it gave me an error and try again from the start. I did and again the same issue. I kept following their instructions until i got to this page: “Verification Limit Exceeded We’re glad you’re enthusiastic, but it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.” I was verified but I kept getting errors when I went to redeem. Anyone know what I can do? @condor is there anything that I messed up?

Hi, I’m a PhD student at Monash University in Australia, and I’m currently unable to join the Cursor student program despite being fully eligible. I’m posting here with my .edu email account and am happy to provide my student ID or any other documentation to confirm my status.

I’d really appreciate any guidance on how I can access the student offer and try Cursor’s advanced features.

Every time I tried to verify, I got the SheerID email saying “You’re almost there!

Click the following link to finish verifying your Student status.”

I would always get this after doing the ID upload process: Error We are unable to verify you at this time. If you believe you received this in error, please contact SheerID support.

I contacted SheerID support and they said: We are unable to process your verification request. For further assistance with the Cursor Pro student discount, please visit the Cursor FAQ https://www.cursor.com/students.

Hello Team,

I am reaching out again regarding the verification of my student status. This is my second attempt to resolve this issue. Previously, I submitted all the requested documents, including my Government ID, University ID, semester fee receipt, and semester class schedule. Despite this, they were unable to verify my status. I contacted their support team for assistance, but unfortunately, they could not help me. Following this, the Cursor Support Team advised me to complete the verification process again through SheerID.

I followed their instructions and submitted the same documents, along with additional relevant files (I-20 and the University-Provided Enrollment Status Document). However, I received the same response and, after reaching out to SheerID’s support, I still did not receive any reasons for the inability to verify my student status.

Could you please advise me on how to proceed from here?

I’m facing an issue with the student discount not being applied to my account.

I created my Cursor account and completed student verification through SheerID. I received a confirmation email stating that my student verification was successful (screenshot attached). To double-check, I contacted SheerID directly, and they confirmed that the verification is successfully completed on their end as well.

However, the student discount is still not being applied to my Cursor account.

I have emailed hi@cursor multiple times regarding this issue. Initially, I received automated responses. I then explicitly requested that my case be forwarded to a real support representative, but since then, I have not received any response. It has been several weeks, and the issue remains unresolved.

I would really appreciate it if someone from the team could look into this and resolve it as soon as possible. Please let me know if you need any additional details from my side.

Please correct this and try again.

However, I have submitted every single document possible:

  1. class schedule
  2. transcript
  3. tuition receipt
  4. official proof of enrollment

I literally don’t know what else to do.

Student at university of melbourne australia, provided initial passport documents required, however cannot progress to next stage where i submit university transcripts, it just showa this error when i click on the new email
