I’m experiencing the same issue that others have been describing. I’ve attempted to upload my government-issued ID and passport multiple times. I have tried multiple devices, trying different lighting, format, and size, but I keep consistently receive the errors “unable to verify your documents” and then “verification limit exceeded”, after checking the finalizing steps email. I’ve contacted SheerID support with no resolution from their part.
Could you please advise on this situation or provide an alternative method to complete verification?
Hey Condor, I have experienced the same problem. I have gotten verified, but when I click on the Apply Discount button on my email. It directs me to the dashboard page on Cursor, and a loading circle keeps loading indefinitely and nothing happens, I have contacted both cursor and SheerIDwith the case and they responded with no help

Cannot redeem because Cursor thinks that I already redeemed it – error message attached below.
Actual situation is I’ve been trying to redeem but failed and in the last three days I’ve been constantly communicating with SheerID and they were not helpful – they suggest to resubmit a Sheer ID request which I cannot do because of this bug.

I didn’t redeem this offer, as you can see on my account about my plan. However this bug blocks me from actually verifying my status.
Steps to Reproduce
Go to the website,
Submitted a government ID with clear face and name.
Actually before that step I’d be prompted the error message.
Expected Behavior
I’m at least able to re-start the SheerID process. Or be manually verified.
Issue 1. Verification completes successfully but then does not provide a valid URL to then go ahead and activate
Issue 2. Having tried this multiple times (support were unhelpful with comments such as “try with another browser”, or “use a clear image of your identity” misunderstanding that it is a) a server side issue concerning handshake between a successfully validated ID and the mechanism to then provide free subscription, b) having complied with their directions - if nothing else than to demonstrate that this was not the issue - having gone through the loop multiple (i.e. more than 20) times, I now have reached verification attempts exceeded (see below)
It is not the case that I already now have a student cursor subscription as I have checked that.
I completed the verification process and got successfully verified by SheerID, and when I clicked apply discount on the email, it took me to the payment page without discounts applied (just the 14-day free trial and normal payment)
I put my payment details and started the trial, and I’m writing here hoping it’ll get fixed before I get charged. Thank you!

I have talked to SheerID and they verified that I was verified, but the issue is on the Cursor side. Looking at reddit, it seems maybe my issue was using “sign in with google” instead of creating an account since my .edu uses gmail as the provider. I have been in communication with [email protected], but they have been extremely unhelpful. Please advise.
I have recently signed up for a 1-year Cursor Pro plan for students but got stuck in the verification process. I filled out the information, including my real name (Xuan An Nguyen), student email, and my university. I used my student ID, as it is recognized as an acceptable document on SheerID’s student verification page, under the “I have questions on documentation” tab.
However, I tried to verify multiple times, but they still “have an error validating my student ID”. After that, I have been told that I have exceeded my verification limit, like other students.
I found out that I can use a different name for verifying on SheerID, like using my name on Cursor, which is Shawn Nguyen. I have been able to use that to verify, but I haven’t proceeded to uploading a document for that yet. I want to know if that will put me into any trouble if I continue, because I really want to use Cursor but have exceeded my usage limit.
On my first attempt, I tried to verify using my university ID but it didn’t work and afterwards, I tried to use my passport but realized that only the first attempt matters. I tried to contact sheerID and even went as far as to send them my passport pdf but no proper reply from them. Please look into this as I can provide any sort of document required.
I recently verified my student status with SheerID and received confirmation. However, when I applied the link, instead of applying the student discount, it just says start your 14 day trial and later pay.
Could you please apply the student discount? Or tell me how should I procede?
I have received a successful verification e-mail from SheerID with a big “Apply Discount” button. Except when I click on it, it opens up my cursor dashboard on the overview tab with a forever loading section where the pro, pro+ and ultra plans are listed.
Clearly something’s gone wrong. I am based in Australia, verified with SheerID and my school e-mail (which I am logged in right now with) ends in edu.au.
Please fix or do get back to me somehow about these issues. Really would appreciate some response or closure even though you guys are probably heavily swamped. Thanks again for your time.
@condor I am facing the same issue. I’ve already completed student verification, but the discount is not showing on Stripe. After adding my credit card, my account is now on Trial Pro with 14 days left, and I’ll be charged if I don’t cancel. This needs to be resolved urgently.

I have tried multiple times to validate my ID with my driver’s license, but it is not working. I try again and re-input and upload the images. I am recieving the “You’re almost there!” email from sheerID, but when I follow the link, I get the error “We had trouble validating your ID.”
I tried signing up using my college mail and used to my passport for verification . it just says couldnt verify . i mailed them and just got a generic response . @condor Could you please step in or advise on how I can get my case escalated, either with SheerID or directly with Cursor, so I can complete my verification? Hello, attempted to verify as student, signed up with personal email by accident at first, then went to attempt again with school email and then “having trouble with verification” error appeared. Attempted a few minutes later and “verification limit exceeded” error. Any help would be appreciated!
