Repeatedly says connection issue when my connection is fine

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Repeatedly says “connection failed. if the error persists, please check your internet connection or VPN”. Yesterday I had to delete all data and reinstall the app to get it to work but that isn’t feasible when I have work to do.

Steps to Reproduce

I honestly couldn’t tell you. Mightve been from trying to update cursor but not sure. thats a seperate glitch where it won’t update no matter what I do, i get new models but it says cursor is running in the background even if it isn’t, and if it is, it’s the updater so impossible loop

Expected Behavior

I am supposed to get an agent response instead i get this.

Hey, thanks for the report.

This is a known network issue with HTTP/2. Please try these quick steps:

  1. Settings CTRL+, → search for HTTP/2 → enable “Disable HTTP/2” → restart Cursor and test in a new chat
  2. Settings → Network → Run Diagnostics → send a screenshot
  3. Do you use VPN, proxy, or SSL inspection like Zscaler? Try without them or on a different network
  4. Run test without extensions: cursor --disable-extensions and try a new chat

Please send:

  • 2-3 recent Request IDs from the error window via Copy Request Details
  • Errors from Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console

disabling mcp servers fixed this for me

I have tried this a few times, it worked before but it isn’t working when I do it again, making cursor unusable.
