Student Verification Issues

I’ve been trying to verify my student status, but my attempts were unsuccessful. I tried multiple times using my passport and driver’s license, but each attempt failed.

Now I’m receiving the message:
“We’re glad you’re enthusiastic, but it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.”

However, I have not been able to redeem the offer at all, as my verification was never completed successfully. Could you please reset my verification limit or assist me in completing the verification process?

I’m encountering the common verification issue. Despite multiple attempts with my ID and passport under various conditions, I keep getting “unable to verify” and “limit exceeded” errors. I’ve tried deleting and recreating my account, but it seems the error lies with the SheerID, could you please help?

Hi @Condor,

I’m trying to upload my documents for the student discount process and ran into a snag.

I successfully uploaded my passport and received the confirmation link from SheerID saying, “We have successfully confirmed your identity.”

However, when I click that link to continue with my student status verification, it doesn’t prompt me to upload my student status document. It seems to be stuck or not progressing to the next step.

Could you please let me know what I should do to proceed with uploading my student proof??

I successfully uploaded my driving license and received the confirmation link from SheerID saying, “We have successfully confirmed your identity.”

When I click on it it says check your email?

Hi Cursor Team,

I’m a student at Korea National Open University (KNOU, knou.ac.kr – South Korea’s national open university, 180k+ students).
GitHub Student Developer Pack is fully verified and active on my account.

However, SheerID still shows “Only .edu emails and specific educational domains are eligible” and keeps me on Free Plan.

Already tried:
• Re-verify with GitHub
• Uploaded my official transcript via SheerID document upload

Request: Please add knou.ac.kr to the SheerID whitelist (like recent KAIST/SNU additions).

I have my student email address (@iesmarquesdecomares.org), but apparently, just because it’s not a .edu domain, it’s not valid for them, even though it has been valid for most platforms, such as GitHub, when I attached my student certificate.

Here is my situation: I am an international student at the University of Queensland (UQ). Since I do not possess an Australian government-issued ID or a local driver’s license, I attempted to verify my status by uploading my official Student ID card. Unfortunately, the verification failed, and I am now locked out due to the maximum number of attempts.

Could you please reset my verification attempts or guide me on how to manually verify my status using my Student ID/COE?

Hi @Condor , I’m having the same issue as Zachary above.

I successfully uploaded my driver’s license and received the confirmation link from SheerID saying, “We have successfully confirmed your identity.”

When I click on it, it shows the below message. They never re-send the email.

I have tried re-verifying many times and every time I get to this step and then they stop sending further emails to complete the process. The verification of the driver’s license goes through, but they don’t let me go further than that.

I have been trying to get authorized for my student discount for over a month. I have all of the necessary documents and ID but SheerID kept denying my verification. I reached out to SheerID customer support multiple times but I get the standard “Please resubmit your documents “ automated reply. Now when I try to verify it says that I have reached the verification limit.

I have been a paying customer with Cursor for a few months now and I would appreciate it if something could be done about this situation. I absolutely love Cursor but the verification process is bugged. Please help. I can provide any documents necessary including a letter from the Assistant Director of Student Advisors.

Describe the Bug

Trying to verify for the Student Plan through SheerID permanently locks me out with a “Verification Limit Exceeded” message, even after SheerID says I’m verified. I’ve uploaded valid government ID and college enrollment documents, SheerID accepts them, but when I follow their link back to Cursor I just get the “Verification Limit Exceeded” page and can’t activate the Student Plan at all.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to the Cursor student page and start the SheerID verification flow.
  2. Enter my .edu email and school, and get redirected to SheerID.
  3. Upload government ID and college enrollment documents.
  4. Wait for SheerID to review and approve (they send an email saying my identity is verified and give me a link to redeem).
  5. Click the link in the SheerID email (or get redirected back from SheerID).
  6. Instead of success, SheerID shows a page that says: “Verification Limit Exceeded – It looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.” There’s no way to continue.
  7. From this point on, any attempt to start the student verification again for this offer immediately hits the same “Verification Limit Exceeded” page, so I’m completely blocked from getting the Student Plan.

Expected Behavior

Once SheerID has verified my documents and identity, I should be able to click their link and actually activate the Cursor Student Plan on my account. Instead, the integration treats me as if I’ve already redeemed the offer and sends me to “Verification Limit Exceeded” every time, even though I’ve never successfully redeemed it. Cursor support or SheerID should be able to clear this state or apply the Student Plan manually.

SheerID has already approved my identity and enrollment documents and told me I’m verified for the offer, but the link they give me just goes back to the “Verification Limit Exceeded” page instead of letting me redeem. I’ve opened a ticket with SheerID support to reset my attempts, but from my side I’ve done everything correctly and still can’t get the Student Plan. It feels like my SheerID entry for this offer is stuck in a bad state. It would help a lot if the Cursor team could either coordinate with SheerID to clear this flag or manually apply the Student Plan to my Cursor account once SheerID confirms I’m verified. I’m happy to share more details or screenshots privately if needed, but I’d rather not post my personal info publicly.

Hi Team,

I have successfully verified my student status via SheerID (I received the “Congratulations” confirmation email).

However, when I click the “Apply Discount” link in that email, it redirects me to the dashboard and the “Student Status” still links me to SheerID…

  • SheerID Status: Verified

  • Issue: The callback link cursor.com/student-verified is not triggering the account upgrade.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

I am facing this same issue of “Verification Limit Exceeded” that everyone is reporting. I tried submitting photos of my Driving License and Passport, but both didn’t work. I am not sure if submitting the student ID will work (that is what the students’ page on Sheer ID says, but the verification portal asks for a govt. issued ID).

I emailed Sheer ID for support, but they are very unsupportive and unresponsive. They just gave a generic response to try and verify again, without any more information about what failed. I have successfully verified with SheerID on other platforms using the same forms of ID, so I am not sure where the issue is. Kindly help to process this request.

I have also verified with SheerID, but the first time it ran into issues and asked me to re-verify, and for my second try, it said “Verification Limit Exceeded”. How do we fix this issue? Thank you!

Hello! SheerID has already approved my identity and enrollment documents and told me I’m verified for the offer, but the link they give me just goes back to the “We had trouble validating your ID” page instead of letting me redeem. I’ve opened a ticket with SheerID support to reset my attempts, but from my side I’ve done everything correctly and still can’t get the Student Plan :cry:

I submitted the verification with proper ID and it said it would get an email if I get verified however after a very prolonged wait, I still have yet to receive any email on my college email.
