Hello,

I’m a student at San Jose State University (valid .edu email) and I’m getting the “Verification Limit Exceeded” error from SheerID.

I’ve contacted both SheerID and Cursor support at [email protected], but haven’t received resolution from either, with both telling me to contact the other with no actual resolution or guidance. I’m a legitimate student with valid government-issued documentation.

Could you please help reset my verification limit or just help me fix it so I can complete the student verification?

I am writing here because I am stuck in a loop between SheerID and Cursor support, and I cannot reach a human agent via email.

The Issue: I tried to verify my Student status on cursor.com. I uploaded valid documents (Student ID), but I received an error. When I contacted SheerID support, they replied stating they were unable to process my request and that my ticket has been “permanently closed” without giving me a chance to correct any potential misunderstanding (e.g., uploading a different document format).

The Support Loop: I contacted Cursor support via email, but I received a response from “Sam (AI Support Assistant)” stating that Cursor cannot override SheerID decisions.

Why this is a false positive: I am an active student and I already hold a GitHub Student Developer Pack, which confirms my status. The rejection from SheerID seems to be an error that I cannot appeal because they closed the ticket.

Could a member of the Cursor team please look into this manually? I can provide my valid University transcript or proof of my GitHub Student Pack immediately via DM or email.

I really want to use Cursor Pro for my studies but the automated systems are blocking me completely.

I got the verified email from SheerID every time and it shows error until I got this.

Your SheerID integration confirms identity then immediately fails.

Pro+ subscriber, $64.98/month. Six months attempting verification. Six months of stonewalling and kicking the can.

Same session. Same transaction. Identity confirmed, then rejected.

I verify successfully through SheerID for other services using identical credentials. This is specific to your integration.

Email support responded with an AI bot directing me to SheerID. SheerID directs me to you. I’ve already contacted SheerID separately. I’ve actually contacted both, many times in the past six months.

This is a bug in your integration. Someone needs to look at why your system confirms identity then fails in the same flow.

HI there,
I have the same issues as many others. After I upload my ID to sheer, I receive an email that says “you have successfully confirmed your identity”. It has a link that says “continue verification”. After clicking on that, it sends me another email with a link to finalize the verification. In the final link, I receive the following:

I reached out to SheerID support, and they claimed they couldn’t verify and to reach out to Cursor.

I’m currently a student and can upload any necessary documents, I’m just stuck in a loop (have tried the verification multiple times, always to the same end).

Can someone please help me out here? :folded_hands:

I cannot seem to get SheerID to work as well. I emailed them as well and they just said good luck, we’re closing your ticket. Any help would be appreciated.

I’m having the same issues as the people above with also SheerID closing my ticket

I’ve tried to get the Cursor Pro offer for Students.

  • Tried last October and did not get through the ID Verification Phase (gave up after multiple attempts)
  • Tried again yesterday, the ID Verification worked, when clicking the link to “continue verification” I get this following error:

I have contacted SheerID support and get the following feedback:

I am a Master Student in the US and have all the documents, however SheerID is not even enabling me to upload a single document for this.

I’m having issues with the SheerID verification link. When I click the verification link from the email SheerID sent me, I just get an error page instead of loading the verification form. This prevents me from uploading documents or completing the verification process.

I’ve tried:

  • Opening the link in multiple browsers and incognito mode
  • Disabling browser extensions and VPN
  • Clicking the link on both desktop and mobile

Same error occurs every time. The link appears to be broken on SheerID’s end. Is there a way to trigger a fresh verification link or reset my verification attempt?

I’m running into the same issue with SheerID as many of the people in this forum. I tried verifying my student status using my university email. When SheerID asked for a government-issued ID, I uploaded my Drivers License. The verification failed. I’ve contacted SheerID multiple times, but every response is the same copy-paste message saying they can’t help and that my ticket is being permanently closed. There’s no real explanation, no way to unlock my account, and no way to submit the correct document (my student ID with an expiration date, which their help page says is what they actually want). At this point, there is no point for retry.

Honestly, the SheerID support experience has been extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. They don’t clarify what documents are accepted on the submission page, and once you fail, you’re just blocked with no path forward.

I’m hoping someone on the Cursor team can help resolve this or provide an alternative way to verify student status. I really want to use Cursor, but I’ve hit a dead end because of SheerID.

I’m trying to redeem the student offer, but I’m getting stuck due to a verification error. SheerID confirmed my identity, but when I continue the process, I see an error saying I can’t be verified at this time. Because of this, I’m unable to redeem the student offer.

I’m seeing a SheerID error during student verification:

“Verification Limit Exceeded — it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.”

I have not successfully redeemed the student offer before (I never received the student Pro benefit). This happens immediately when I start verification from the Students page after logging in with my .edu account.

I understand Cursor staff cannot manually approve or override SheerID decisions. Could you please DM me with the recommended next steps (e.g., what information you need and whether I should contact SheerID to reset the redemption/attempt status)?

@condor I tried to verify and I tried to submit the verification several times and now what I am getting is the verification limit exceeded, please help!!

I got the successful sheerId verification but when I click the link to continue, it shows up as an error in cursor.

So I am receiving the email and when I click “Continue verification” in the email, it just brings me here:

Hi I have the same issue. I’m a verified student but when I’m trying to claim my sutdent license I’m told that I have exceeded the number of request. Could you please reset the count or let me know how to proceed?
