Student Verification Issues

Hi, I am having some issues with verifying my student status. I’ve verified with my edu email, but it didn’t work. Now, when I try again with sheerID, it says I’ve already verified an account with my edu email.

I’m having issues and receiving this message and when trying to verify. I tried reaching out to sheerID, they would ignore what i said, email me back telling to me try again and instantly close the ticket. any help would be greatly appreciated @condor

Hi I am having some issue with verfying.

I am in the USA but am unable to verify myself to get my student account. I have a project where I need to use Cursor for school and am being limited on how much I can do every day. Is there any way I can fix this? I keep getting “Verification Limit Exceeded

@condor Hi I just applied my student discount, but when making the payment it showed Pro trial without the student discount. Can you help me?

I’m having issues when trying to verify. I started the process during the summer but could not get it to work. I contacted sheerID, who then told me it was an issue on Cursor’s side. I received emails to “Finish Verifying” and when I would click on them, there would be some server-side error I guess and the whole process would fail.

I now keep getting the “Verification Limit Exceeded” errors like many others. I would appreciate some help.

@condor My case is the same as Rum’s.
My SheerID verification was approved on Sep 6. On Sep 12 I clicked “Apply Discount.” The Stripe checkout initially showed the student price and a 14-day Pro trial, but after I added a payment method a banner appeared—“Your payment method is not eligible for a free trial. You can still upgrade to a paid plan and continue using Cursor.” Pro was not activated, and ever since then the Pro checkout has shown only full-price options with no student discount. This happened on Sep 12; I’m posting today (Sep 25) in the Student Verification Issues thread now that I have time to report it.

I’ve tried passport and have been blocked for too many tries, reached out to SheerID for retrial but still the same error is occurring. Please help and DM me. I’m from US university.

Not having the same issues as most but the verification process is taking a long time, It’s been about 6 hours since I’ve tried to verify despite it saying “Hold tight, turnaround time is typically a few minutes or less.”

hi, would it be possible to increase the number of verification attempts? as so many people have exceeded the limit due to some mistakes.

I attempted to verify but got the verification limit exceeded error. I checked my account and I am still on the free plan. I have a .edu email and meet all the criteria for being eligible for the student discount.

Hi,
I was excited to switch to Cursor from Windsurf after hearing a lot of positive things about Cursor. However upon the verifcation step I’m getting the same error as most people here on this thread:

I reached out to SheerID support but have not gotten any helpful response. Should I stick with Windsurf or is there any way to resolve the verification issue soon?

It honestly seems like contacting SheerID results in absolutely nothing/no help at all.

I uploaded perfect scans of my ID, and even my passport (I even tried an older version of my ID, since my state has issued a new version recently), and all yielded:

”We had trouble validating your ID. Please contact SheerID support.”

I am honestly hitting a roadblock and it is very frustrating, I understand it isn’t Cursor’s fault, just frustrating that the vendor isn’t even remotely trying to assist at all. (I even uploaded my images TO their Support in my email, and that is how they replied was: “We were unable to verify your government ID based on the images provided. While we can’t offer further details or support for this specific inquiry, please submit clear, separate images of both the front and back of your ID. Your ticket has now been permanently closed.“)

Sorta insane, like I said I used an actual document scanner, it is literally a perfect scan of my documentation..

I’ve been trying to get past the Sam bot from hi@cursor email but it insists I use my .edu email, so I’m trying this venue :

I’ve been trying to get verified for the student discount for the past month and a half, and SheerID has successfully verified me thrice, and yet whenever I use their “Apply Discount” button, nothing happens on the Cursor page, which tells me it is probably an error on your side. Can I get in contact with a human agent to help me out with this and finally get me verified? Again, everything works on the SheerID side.

I got verified through SheerID and received a “Your plan is now active!” email from Cursor on Sept 15th, but my portal still doesn’t show up.

SheerID confirmed verification is complete on their end:

  • Verification ID: 68c7ac063cf42a7cc6082c5f

  • Date Verified: Sep 15, 2025

Anyone else facing this issue? Need support to fix this.

  • went through verification process
  • get email verification code
  • click link (we ran into some error please retry)
  • same thing
  • send support ticket
  • respond 10 days later “we are backlogged and the id wasn’t clear“
  • simply not true both id pictures were crystal clear taken on iPhone imported to computer and taken directly on iPhone next attempt
  • reattempt after realizing its been 10 days and still not verified
  • “Verification Limit Exceeded We’re glad you’re enthusiastic, but it looks like you’ve already redeemed or attempted to redeem this offer.“
  • OK maybe it was verified when they realized my credentials are valid
  • check account
  • still no Pro subscription
  • -_-

Simply attempting to move responsibility to the outsourced verification company is not good enough, you made the promotional, you have the student offer listed boldly on your site. It’s up to you to make sure that students who fit the specifications you outlined are getting verified.
